CFP: Silvaplana 2008, 17th Workshop in Political Economy

You are invited to submit a paper for consideration for presentation at the 2008 Silvaplana Workshop in Political Economy. The purpose of the workshop is to bring together young and established researchers with an interest in political economy and public choice. Papers can be theoretical and/or empirical. A primary criterion is that papers be interesting.

Dates: From Wednesday afternoon 3.00pm 23 July, to Sunday 1.00pm 27 July 2008
Location: Albana Hotel, in Silvaplana, Switzerland (near St Moritz)
Total cost: Shared accommodation estimated cost SF440, single accommodation SF560. The cost covers accommodation for the duration of the workshop (4 nights), breakfast, and dinner at the Albana Hotel. Accommodation is at the Albana Hotel or the Julier Palace Hotel.

Program
Papers from 8.40 am to 1.00 pm
Mountain walks and discussion (compulsory participation) 1.00 pm-6.00 pm
Dinner 7.00 pm
Evening presentations by invited speakers 8.30-9.30 pm

Dates
Submission of abstract and/or preliminary paper: before March 1, 2008
Accepted papers should be sent before July 1, 2008

Program committee
Decisions regarding acceptance of papers for the workshop will be made by the conference organizer in conjunction with program committee, Toke Aidt (Cambridge), Hans Peter Grüner (Mannheim), Arye Hillman (Bar-Ilan), Heinrich Ursprung (Konstanz).

There are no parallel sessions
There is no conference fee
If your paper is not accepted, you may be invited to come as a discussant
Attending the workshop is an obligation to attend all sessions and to participate in mountain walks
Authors of accepted papers from non-OECD countries can apply for a subsidy contingent on family personal wealth

The Silvaplana workshop is sponsored by the European Journal of Political Economy and is the annual conference of the Silvaplana Society for the Study of Political Economy
