Paul Caron recently posted some interesting rankings of law schools via a Google ranking system. In other words, it’s the rank order of law schools according their relative listing placement when you conduct a Google search for “law school”. Apparently, Google’s ranking algorithm is top secret (and Paul has some fun with gullible readers on this point), but who are we to question Google’s wisdom in such matters?
In any event, here are the Top 20 Departments of Political Science:
1. University of Toronto
2. University of Michigan
3. University of California - Berkeley
4. University of Chicago
5. Stanford University
6. MIT
7. Ohio State University
8. UCLA
9. Duke University
10. Columbia University
11. University of Washington
12. University of California - San Diego
13. Yale University
14. University of Wisconsin
15. University of Connecticut
16. Northwestern University
17. University of Colorado
18. Florida State University
19. Rutgers University
20. University of Arizona
These results come from a Google search of “Department of Political Science” - if you are interested in Political Science Departments or Departments of Government - then you’re on your own.

Interesting. I would think the correlation between this ranking and other published rankings is somewhere around 0.30.
